Modern beam-forming techniques allow previously unattainable data rates to be achieved in the 5G network. In order to comply with the legal limits, a dynamic power control system is used that constantly monitors and adjusts the transmission power of the base station. In a measurement campaign in Deutsche Telekom’s live network, Sykno carried out time-synchronous and spatially distributed measurements of the electric field strength for the first time. This demonstrated the functionality of the new power control feature from the manufacturer Ericsson and examined it in numerous test cases.
We have published the results of these investigations in the renowned IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation.
